St Columba’s College, Portaferry participated in the international Eco-Schools World Days of Action by completing Airtricity’s Operation Energy, Power Down Day on 7th November 2013.
The aim of the Eco-Schools’ pupil led, World Days of Action are to make a positive impact on long-term behaviour change in environmental sustainability within young people around the world.
St Columba’s College’s participation in Power Down Day has contributed to an exciting day which saw Eco-schools throughout the world do their bit to reduce energy wastage. The initiative involved monitoring and reducing energy output for a day to see just how much energy, and money, Eco-Schools inNorthern Irelandcould save.
Pupils helped John Convery take electricity readings for one week and encouraged pupils and staff to switch off on 7th November.
