Game of 3 Halves Tournament
On Tuesday 17th June 2014, St Columba’s College in conjunction with Glastry College hosted 60 P6 pupils from St Mary’s Primary School, Kircubbin, Portaferry Integrated Primary School and St Mary’s Primary School, Portaferry. Mixed teams had the opportunity to play rugby, soccer and Gaelic football with specialist coaches on hand to give advice and support. Students from both colleges were given time out in advance of the tournament to make all necessary arrangements to ensure the event was successful. Excellent organisation and pleasant sunshine made for a very enjoyable meeting, capped by the presentation of awards in the school assembly hall. We were privileged to have Mayor of Ards, Philip Smith present certificates and special prizes. The accompanying photographs capture the atmosphere and the enjoyment of the occasion. The tournament was funded by the EU’s PEACE III Programme, managed by the Special EU’s Programme Body and delivered by the North Down, Ards, and Down Council’s Cluster.
