On Wednesday 25th February, our Year 8 pupils and Primary 7 pupils from St Mary’s Primary School took part in a coding workshop delivered by CultureTECH. This workshop was part of the BBC Make It Digital: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02gvk8k
The workshop (delivered by Rachel McDermott- CultureTECH) was called MEBOT. This workshop provided an overview of how software code is used in the world around us, and how all code requires a simple set of instructions. Pupils learnt the importance of being precise and thinking logistically (just as a computer programmer has to when writing code). Pupils put what they learnt into practice by creating simple instructions for classmates to act out. This workshop supported a range of cross-curriculum skills.
